THE WINE

The Volnay 1er Cru "Les Brouillards" 2015 from Domaine Jessiaume is a beautifully structured Pinot Noir that marries the elegance of Volnay with the depth and concentration of the exceptional 2015 vintage. Aromas of black cherry, ripe plum, wild blackberry, and violet are layered with notes of forest floor, dark chocolate, sweet spice, and a subtle smoky character. On the palate, the wine is rich and expansive, offering impressive concentration balanced by vibrant freshness and silky, well-integrated tannins. The limestone-rich soils of the Les Brouillards vineyard lend a refined mineral backbone, while careful oak ageing adds complexity without overwhelming the fruit. The finish is long, poised, and persistent, revealing layers of dark fruit, earthy savouriness, and delicate spice. Now entering an excellent stage of maturity, it combines power with finesse and will continue to evolve gracefully over the coming decade. 

THE WINEMAKER

Domaine Jessiaume is a historic Côte de Beaune estate founded in 1850 and based in Santenay. Today, the domaine combines Burgundian tradition with a modern philosophy centred on sustainable viticulture, minimal intervention, and precise terroir expression. Vineyard work focuses on low yields, meticulous hand harvesting, and careful fruit selection, while fermentation relies on indigenous yeasts with gentle extraction to preserve purity and balance. The 2015 Les Brouillards was vinified with 100% whole clusters, underwent spontaneous fermentation, and was matured for 15 months in French oak barrels (approximately 50% new), without fining or filtration, resulting in a wine of remarkable depth, complexity, and transparency. Domaine Jessiaume's wines are recognised for their combination of concentration, freshness, and elegance, faithfully expressing the character of Burgundy's finest Premier Cru vineyards.
