THE WINE

The Nuits-Saint-Georges Village 2018 from Aurélien Verdet is a finely structured Pinot Noir that captures the intensity and depth characteristic of this celebrated Côte de Nuits appellation. Aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry, raspberry, and violet unfold alongside notes of forest floor, truffle, sweet spice, and crushed stone. The palate is concentrated yet beautifully balanced, with ripe dark fruit framed by firm, finely textured tannins and vibrant acidity. Layers of earthy complexity and subtle savoury notes emerge with air, while the limestone-rich soils impart a distinctive mineral backbone that lends precision and persistence. The finish is long, refined, and energetic, combining the power typical of Nuits-Saint-Georges with an elegant sense of restraint. Already highly expressive, the wine also possesses the structure to reward further cellaring. 

THE WINEMAKER

Aurélien Verdet represents a new generation of Burgundian vignerons dedicated to producing authentic, terroir-driven wines with minimal intervention. Based in Arcenant in the Hautes-Côtes de Nuits, he took over the family estate in 2005, continuing its long-standing commitment to organic viticulture while embracing meticulous vineyard management and gentle cellar practices. Fermentations are carried out with a light touch to preserve fruit purity, and oak is used judiciously to support rather than dominate the character of each vineyard. Verdet's wines are renowned for their precision, freshness, and transparency, consistently expressing the distinctive identity of Burgundy's finest terroirs with elegance and balance.
