Corton Rognet Grand Cru 2010 - Maison Jessiaume
THE WINE
The Corton Rognet Grand Cru 2010 from Maison Jessiaume is a majestic and beautifully mature Pinot Noir that embodies the depth, structure, and longevity of one of the Hill of Corton's most celebrated Grand Cru climats. After more than a decade of bottle ageing, the wine has developed remarkable complexity while retaining impressive freshness. Aromas of black cherry, wild blackberry, dried raspberry, violet, and rose petals unfold into layers of truffle, forest floor, cedar, tobacco, baking spice, and crushed limestone. The palate is powerful yet impeccably balanced, with concentrated dark fruit supported by velvety, fully integrated tannins and vibrant acidity. The iron-rich limestone soils of Rognet impart a distinctive mineral backbone, lending precision and remarkable persistence. The finish is exceptionally long and elegant, revealing savoury nuances, earthy depth, and a refined sense of harmony. A classic Grand Cru Burgundy that combines the power of Corton with the finesse that only maturity can bring.
THE WINEMAKER
Maison Jessiaume is a historic Burgundy estate founded in 1850 in Santenay, with a reputation for crafting elegant, terroir-focused wines from some of the Côte de Beaune's finest vineyards. Combining meticulous vineyard management with a thoughtful, low-intervention philosophy, the domaine emphasises hand harvesting, careful fruit selection, gentle extraction, and measured ageing in French oak to preserve purity and site expression. Rather than pursuing excessive extraction or oak influence, the focus remains on balance, freshness, and transparency, allowing each climat to reveal its unique identity. The result is a portfolio of Burgundies recognised for their precision, refinement, and excellent ageing potential, faithfully expressing both the heritage and evolving spirit of Burgundy.
