Chambolle Musigny 2015 - Laurent Roumier
THE WINE
The Chambolle-Musigny 2015 from Domaine Laurent Roumier is a beautifully mature expression of one of Burgundy's most elegant villages, combining the concentration of the outstanding 2015 vintage with the finesse that defines Chambolle-Musigny. Aromas of wild strawberry, red cherry, raspberry, and dried rose petals unfold alongside subtle notes of forest floor, sweet spice, tea leaf, and earthy minerality. With time in the glass, hints of truffle, sous-bois, and delicate savoury nuances add further complexity. The palate is silky and refined, offering vibrant red fruit framed by fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Layers of floral perfume, gentle spice, and limestone-driven minerality lead to a long, graceful finish that is both poised and expressive. Now entering an excellent stage of maturity, it retains remarkable freshness while revealing the depth and complexity expected from a top Côte de Nuits vintage.
THE WINEMAKER
Laurent Roumier is a highly respected grower based in Chambolle-Musigny and a member of one of Burgundy's most distinguished winemaking families. The grandson of Georges Roumier and cousin of Christophe Roumier, he established his own domaine in 1991 and has built a reputation for producing wines that prioritise elegance, purity, and terroir expression over sheer power. Vineyard work follows traditional, sustainable practices with hand harvesting and careful yield management, while in the cellar the fruit is fully destemmed, gently fermented in concrete vats, and matured in French oak with restrained use of new barrels according to the classification of each wine. The resulting wines are noted for their aromatic precision, silky textures, and remarkable balance, offering immediate charm while possessing the structure and finesse to age gracefully for decades.
